Buckner Foundation Romania has successfully completed the project "Choose consciously! Don't let drugs darken your future!"
Launched on 15 September 2022, the project "Make a conscious choice! Don't let drugs darken your future!" belonging to the Buckner Foundation Romania, is one of a series of winning projects that received funding non-reimbursable from the local budget of the Municipality of Targu Mures through the Social Assistance Department - "Social Cohesion in the Community", based on Law no. 350/2005.
The information campaign among students and disadvantaged people in the municipality of Targu Mures on the harmful effects of tobacco, alcohol and drugs was carried out together with the Mures County School Inspectorate and the Centre for Prevention, Evaluation and Anti-Drug Counselling (CPECA) Mures over 11 weeks in 19 locations in the municipality of Targu Mures, through 30 presentations and a number of 1307 students informed.
As part of the campaign, students had the opportunity to try out the glasses that simulate drug or alcohol use and received a stress ball.
Also, at the end of the presentations, the students were invited to participate in a contest organized on the Buckner Foundation Facebook page, by filling in a questionnaire to evaluate the impact of the campaign (Google Forms), and were then entered in a raffle with prizes, in which the following students were designated winners:
- M.R. "Unirea" National High School Targu Mures - Lenovo Tablet;
- Szász Adalbert High School - Fitbit Bracelet;
- B.C. Vocational Art High School - Fitbit Bracelet;
- L.A. Traian Vuia" Technological High School - Wireless headsets;
- C.A. "Al. Papiu Ilarian" - Wireless helmets;
- Z.R. Agricultural College "Traian Săvulescu" - Wireless helmets.
We wish them lots of courage and confidence to always make good and conscious choices!
Illicit drug use and trafficking is one of society's major problems and continues to cause enormous damage to the health and well-being of young people and beyond. Curiosity, the desire to fit in, boredom are just some of the reasons why high school students choose to use drugs, alcohol or tobacco, regardless of their harmful effects.
