Târgu Mureș, 25.11.2022
The first two events of the information campaign aimed at increasing access to social services and combating discrimination (POCU) successfully completed
In the framework of the project "Integrated approach to poverty and social exclusion for the benefit of marginalized communities in the Municipality of Targu Mures" - co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Human Capital Operational Programme (POCU) 2014-2020, the Targu Mures Social Assistance Department completed, in November, 2 of the 6 events that are part of the information campaign aimed at increasing access to social services and combating discrimination, namely:
- Health - event focused on prevention in schools and beyond (marginalized areas of Targu Mures) on the use of psychoactive substances and their effects on health; testing of glasses that simulate the effects of drug use, the participants of the target group thus experiencing a distorted reality;
- Social welfare benefits - event organized together with NGOs that have relevant activity in the social field, exhibition with sale of Christmas decorations, as well as interactive activities for visitors; promotion of social, medical and socio-medical services that will operate, through the project, within the Social Welfare Directorate Targu Mures.
Both events targeted vulnerable people from ZUM Târgu Mureș, through direct meetings with them, as well as the distribution of information material, wanting the information contained therein to reach the project beneficiaries directly.
Following the campaign, the objective set by the Targu Mures Social Welfare Directorate was achieved, taking into account that the target group was receptive and received the information as something new, being mainly aware of the effects of psychoactive substances on health but also of the support offered through the new social, medical and socio-medical services that will operate within the Directorate as an integral part of the project won.
The aim of the information campaign is to promote human rights and equal treatment by combating forms of discrimination against people at risk of poverty and social exclusion and providing the necessary support.
Changing attitudes towards people at risk of poverty and social exclusion, raising awareness of their rights and combating discrimination, demystifying stereotypes about them, increasing social inclusion and equal treatment of them are the main objectives of the campaign, which will run for 12 months.
