Divers Association has successfully completed 2 projects for socially vulnerable people and groups in Târgu Mureș Municipality
Launched in August 2022, the project "The city helps through access to free health services for socially vulnerable people" belonging to the Divers Association, is part of the series of social assistance projects that received non-reimbursable funding from the local budget of the Municipality of Targu Mures through the Social Assistance Department - "Social cohesion in the community", under Law no. 350/2005.
The aim of the project was to increase the health of 50 socially vulnerable people living in informal settlements and social or overcrowded housing in the Municipality of Targu Mures.
Thus, in the Băneasa area, 47 people (33 children and 14 adults) had their eyes checked and 11 people (7 adults and 4 children) were provided with glasses. Also in the area mentioned above, more than 50 prescriptions for medicines were provided, facilitating access to various medical services for 12 cases. It is worth mentioning that 8 tarpaulins were provided to isolate the shacks, 2 aerosol machines, 2 blood pressure monitors, hot meals for 65 people, as well as clothing, shoes and diapers from donations.
Also as part of the project, 11 families in the Turbinelor area receive 100 litres of drinking water every week.
The Divers Association has been running the "City Helps" program since April 2020, providing hot meals, material aid including medicines, and counseling in social, educational, work and health programs to the inhabitants of informal settlements in Târgu Mureș, as well as to those in marginalized areas of the city, especially Băneasa, Turbinelor area, Valea Rece, Beșa.
In addition to the above mentioned project, Divers Association received funding through the Social Assistance Department of Targu Mures for the project "SAVE 2022 - Equal chances for the future for the inhabitants of informal settlements in Targu Mures".
Here we are talking about exchanges of experience in Resita and Sfantu Gheorghe between representatives of public institutions in order to improve the situation of the inhabitants of informal settlements in the municipality. Reșița is successfully implementing 2 projects with non-reimbursable funding through investments in housing infrastructure - construction/rehabilitation/modernization of social housing, respectively relocation of people from marginalized areas into new housing, while focusing on integrated social services offered to families. Also here, through a partnership with 13 local firms, they have provided jobs for people at risk of social exclusion. On the other hand, in Sfântu Gheorghe, through non-reimbursable funding, a project is underway which involves the construction of 50 social housing units together with the development of infrastructure related to the marginalised area, focusing, as in the case of Reșița, on integrated social services, in this case through a multifunctional centre.
In 2021, the Social Assistance Directorate of Targu Mures financed non-governmental organizations that aim to support initiatives and actions in the field of social assistance "Social cohesion in the community" with a budget of 800,000 lei, and in 2022, with a budget of 1,300,000 lei.
