Office for Child and Family Protection
The identification and resolution of community problems in the field of child, family and single person protection is ensured by Child and Family Protection Office of the Special Protection Service.
Main tasks and powers
- It monitors and analyses the situation of children in the administrative-territorial unit, as well as the way in which children's rights are respected, centralising and summarising relevant data and information, on the basis of a monitoring sheet approved by order of the Minister of Labour and Social Justice;
- It supports access to child or mother and child welfare institutions and assesses how their rights are respected;
- Carries out work to prevent the child from being separated from his/her family;
- Identifies and assesses situations requiring services and/or benefits to prevent separation of the child from his/her family;
- Provides advice and information to families with dependent children on their rights and obligations, on children's rights and on locally available services;
- Ensures and monitors the implementation of measures to prevent and combat alcohol and drug abuse, prevent and combat domestic violence and delinquent behaviour;
- Regularly visits families and children receiving services and benefits at home and monitors the use of benefits, as well as families caring for children with parents working abroad;
- It monitors the child's development and the way in which the child's parents exercise their rights and fulfil their obligations in relation to the child who has benefited from a special protection measure and has been reintegrated into the family;
- It cooperates with the Directorate-General for Social Assistance and Child Protection in the field of child protection and sends it all the data and information requested in this area;
- It monitors the implementation of the decisions of the child protection commission/guardianship body concerning the provision of work or work of local interest by the parents who are fit for work during the period of application of the special protection measure.

collaborates with various institutions in the municipality of Târgu Mureș and Mureș County (Mureș Municipal Police, County Emergency Clinical Hospital, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital, DGASPC Mureș, Mureș County School Inspectorate, educational establishments, CJRAE, Guardianship Authority Service, Mureș Court, SPCLEP Mureș) and in the country, in order to solve cases in progress or to apply the legislation in the best possible way - Develops partnerships on the basis of collaboration agreements and collaborates with non-governmental organisations and other representatives of civil society in order to provide and diversify social services, according to local needs, for people with disabilities, elderly people, single people, children and families in need;

Child and Family Protection Office of the Special Protection Service, pays special attention to the phenomenon of "street children", assesses, monitors families with minors who turn to the mercy of the public and offers support in order to provide benefits and services, recommends special protection measures if necessary, taking into account the best interests of the child which prevails in decisions concerning minors under Law No. 272/2004 on the promotion of children's rights.

Services and benefits granted under the legislation in force
For families, children and disadvantaged people affected by this phenomenon, we offer support to services and benefits granted under the legislation in force :

- Assistance in situations of child abuse, neglect, trafficking and exploitation;
- Psychological counselling;

- Housing and care for the elderly;
- Information and advice for people with disabilities and their families;
- Granting the right to social assistance in the form of social benefits and social facilities to people with disabilities;
- Providing material aid, financial aid and social canteen from budgetary/extra-budgetary resources/NGO support;
- Providing assistance to homeless people for social integration (identity documents, disability/disability certificate, medical services, facilitating access to centres or shelters that meet their needs, social canteen);
- Primary social/psychological/legal counselling;
- Counselling for the socio-professional integration of marginalised people;
