People hosting refugees from Ukraine can only receive money from the state until the end of the month. Settlement claims must be submitted by May
In the context of the war in Ukraine, from spring 2022, it was established that individuals hosting foreign citizens or stateless persons from the area of armed conflict, can benefit from the settlement by the state of the amount of 50 lei/day/person for their accommodation and the amount of 20 lei/day/person to provide food for refugees.
The rules established almost a year ago have recently been changed by GEO No 22/2023, so that from 1 May it will be the refugees from Ukraine themselves who will receive the money for accommodation and food, not their hosts as before.
Thus, according to the document, "Natural persons who have hosted, until 30 April 2023, foreign nationals or stateless persons in special situations from the area of armed conflict in Ukraine, shall be entitled to the reimbursement of expenses for food and accommodation in the amount of 20 lei/day/person hosted for food and 50 lei/day/person hosted for accommodation if they apply for it", in accordance with the settlement mechanism of GD No 336/2022.
Claims for the above amounts must be submitted by 13 May 2023 at the latest. Standard forms (PDF/editable) can be downloaded from the website of Târgu Mureș City Hall www.tirgumures.ro, Section Online Services - Necessary documents and standard forms - Reimbursement of food and accommodation expenses for refugees Ukraine or by clicking on the link: https://www.tirgumures.ro/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9242%3Adecontarea-cheltuielilor-cu-hrana-i-cazarea-refugiailor-ucraina&catid=44%3Apagini&Itemid=321&lang=ro.
It should be recalled that, through a draft decision currently under public debate, the central authorities want to establish both the conditions that refugees will have to meet in order to receive, as of 1 May, housing and food aid, as well as their amount.
