"See well, learn well, grow well!" - Project successfully completed by the Save the Children Organization, Mures Branch - free consultations and 55 pairs of glasses for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Municipality of Targu Mures
Checking eyesight and wearing corrective glasses are essential for the health and education of children from an early age, which is why the Save the Children Organization - Mures Branch, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department of Targu Mures, successfully implemented in 2022, the project "See well, learn well, grow well!".", through which, the eye health status of 500 children from disadvantaged backgrounds of the municipality of Targu Mures, aged between 6 and 8 years, was assessed, offering them the appropriate optimal correction through eyeglasses.
Among them were 33 children who attend the "Rosemary" Day Centre. The little ones were given an eye check-up, 3 of them were identified as having vision problems, and following medical prescription, they were provided with eye glasses, with the help of which they will be able to see clearly and enjoy the colourful world around them, having equal opportunities to education.
The children involved in this project will also continue to benefit from regular vision assessments and their school performance will be monitored.
Together with the "Rozmarin" Day Centre, the above-mentioned project also involved the educational establishments in the Municipality of Targu Mures, where 500 vulnerable pupils were examined. Of these, 52 children were identified as having eye problems and were provided with glasses.
The project of the Save the Children Organization - Mures Branch "See well, learn well, grow well!", has received funding from the Municipality of Targu Mures through the Targu Mures Social Assistance Department within the funding session for projects in the field of social assistance "Social cohesion in the community" 2022.
