The Targu Mures Social Assistance Department joins and gets involved in the fight against the social phenomenon generated by drug use among young people and not only
"The present shows us a sad and alarming reality about drugs. We believe that, together with all the relevant institutions, we must invest effectively in the well-being of young people, and in particular of children, their families and the community to which they belong. Drugs can affect physical and mental health, family life, work or studies, personal and social relationships. Many of those who fall prey to drug use have all too familiar causes: dysfunctional families, emotional or physical abuse in childhood, toxic parental role models, loss of a relationship or absence of love, depression, and the process - habit, behaviourment compulsive, substance addiction - becomes complete, unfortunately. How can something like this happen? Quite easily, and one of the common misconceptions is that those who abuse drugs should only be able to stop doing so if they have the willpower to change their behaviour. But the problem is much more complex - drug addiction is a disease that impacts on the brain, and because of this, it can't just be about willpower. Yes, it's hard to quit drugs. The path, for many people, is to find a rehabilitation program that will be truly effective and efficient in the future." said the management of the Targu Mures Social Assistance Department.
According to statistics, 10.7% of people aged 15-64 have used at least one type of illicit drug in their lifetime. The comfort of these substances seems to be an escape from the emptiness inside, but when the temporary drug-induced euphoria stops, the return of the unpleasant state becomes intolerable so that drug addiction becomes a lifestyle.
In the framework of the project "Integrated approach to poverty and social exclusion for the benefit of marginalized communities in the Municipality of Targu Mures" - co-funded by the European Social Fund through the Human Capital Operational Programme (POCU) 2014-2020, the Targu Mures Social Assistance Department has set up, licensed and made available to the community, the Day Centre on recovery from addictions. Through this centre, we want to contribute to the fight against the social phenomenon generated by drug use among young people and not only, by increasing the awareness of this category about the danger of these substances and providing specialized assistance services aimed at social integration.
If you are struggling with substance abuse, tobacco or alcohol problems, or simply want to help someone you know overcome/resolve these addictions, the Addiction Recovery Day Center staff is available to you daily at 0725403353, while ensuring the confidentiality of all personal data and information.
